Ripcord arrow rest review

Stacy OgleŠ August 2007

Well it finally happened I have found a drop away rest that is as dependable as they come and also holds your arrow from falling off, the best of both worlds. A few weeks back I got my hands on a Ripcord fall away arrow rest. I had been wanting to try one out because of the fact you can shoot it like a normal fall away rest or each shot you can cock the fork up and the arrow is totally concealed and cannot fall off while hunting which is very important to me because I mostly stalk hunt.

I have tried the Whisker Biscuit and it just bothered me having my vanes coming in contact with it which in turn causes more wear on my arrow vanes and as much as I shoot during the off season I was not happy with it. Using the Ripcord solved both problems no fletching contact and no need to worry about the arrow falling off while hunting. You can simply knock your arrow and shoot it like a normal fall away rest. When you come to full draw, the launch arm goes up into place but when you’re ready to start hunting you simply knock your arrow and raise the launcher up and it locks it into place ready to shoot and when you come to full draw it releases the mechanism inside and when you shoot it falls and falls fast, no need to worry about fletching contact.

Setting up the rest is one of the easiest I had ever done. Simple is the key word. With this rest you have the option to serve the cord into the cable or use the supplied football clamp with the rest which is a very easy setup. No bow press is needed once you have squared the rest up and decide which way you want to install it. Simply leave the cord loose bring the bow to full draw, which will pull the cord to right length, let the bow back down and then serve in your cord or simply tighten up the foot ball clamp which ever option you have chosen and you’re ready to shoot.

This is also one well-built rest with machined aluminum components and micro adjustments. It’s made to take the punishment that archery hunters are known to put their equipment through. Every thing on the rest is rock solid as a matter a fact just two nights ago I shot my fist ‘robin hood’ arrow in 15 years of shooting. Shot after shot my arrows found their mark with the Ripcord every time. So if you’re like me and like a fall away style rest but want arrow concealment to go along with it there is only one choice: the Ripcord.
