This past season I got my hands on the Leupold RX-II range
finder with a built-in inclinometer to take out west on a Nebraska mule deer/ antelope hunt in northwest Nebraska. It proved
to be a must have in the wide-open plains of the Ogalala Grasslands. In this big open country judging distance can be a major
challenge to say the least. Yet with the RX-II it was easy. The rangefinder took the guess work out and put true yardage right
at my finger tips.
The RX-II is equipped with built in
inclinometers that also takes the guess work out of those awkward down or uphill shots. I found the RX-II to be simple to
use with its quick start mode. This Leupold rangefinder has several options in the more advanced modes of the unit. It also
has a bow mode built in which is what mine is set on most of the time. It’s simple and quick to use in either mode with
the push of a button. Another nice feature is the ability it gives the user to choose between 13 different reticle modes to
suit a particular type of hunt.
The RX-II can reach out
there too, with readings from 3 yards all the way out to 750 yards for those long rifle shots. One of the things I was impressed
with was how small the unit is and how many features Leupold was able to pack into this rangefinder. It’s truly a bow
hunters dream to carry in the field and of course this optic is top notch. I would expect nothing less from Leupold with its
6X magnification. The glass is as clear as they come.
I
have been known to get pretty rough on my equipment mainly because I stalk hunt most of the time even here in Missouri for
white tail. So I drag a lot of my equipment through the brush and across creeks and the mud and I must say the Leupold RX-II
held up well even when it got dropped in the mud a couple of times. I just picked it up wiped it off and we were ready to
go again.
I don’t think you will find a better compact
range finder than the Leupold RX-II especially with all the features the RX-II packs into this unit. So if your looking for
an ultra compact design look no farther than the Leupold RX-II.
